We are a growing team and community of farmers, entrepreneurs, developers, artists, teachers, architects, dreamers and doers from all walks of life. With our many years of experience in community development, agriculture and Permaculture, Kopali Communities is changing the way residential development is done. Kopali is redefining the standard of "green living" while pushing the limits of sustainability towards the cutting edge. Our communities are not just collections of houses or conventionally master-planned developments. Nor are they typical sub-divisions or "exclusive neighborhoods" for the wealthy - a Kopali Community is however, a celebration of life, a living and breathing organism in which lives are harmoniously enriched through healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
Our name "KOPALI" Kopali is an ancient Mexican Nahuatl word meaning "incense" - particularly identified with the forms of aromatic tree resins used by many decendents of pre-Colombian Mesoamerica as a ceremoniously burned incense. To us, it represents the lifeblood of trees, our commitment to the indigenous cultures of our planet and as a reminder of our sacred connection to the natural world in which we all belong.

About Kopali

Valle de Machuca is a place for people who wish to live healthy and sustainable lifestyles. A place where there are no fences between neighbors. A place where "community" truly has meaning. A place where environmental stewardship and social justice are everyday issues - not just a fleeting notion. We wish to create a home where residents can live, work and play...where children can play outside without fear of harm.
Most people answer this question with a "no!" In today's world, our
food systems have become industrialized and globalized, our seeds have
been hijacked by corporations who wish to control what is grown for
human consumption and our crops are genetically modified mono-cultures
where yield is valued more than nutrition. Residents of a Kopali
community wish to not only know where their food comes from, but also
who is cultivating and caring for it.
